As luck would have it, Finland-based company ‘Web of Trust’ does just that. The online platform is a community-based solution that allows users to see how others have rated websites based on trustworthiness, privacy and child safety.
The site features traffic light symbols next to website links to visually demonstrate how millions of other users have rated the site, allowing for a seamless and ‘safe’ web experience.
What’s interesting is their crowd-sourced approach – yet another example of ‘people power’ in action. With millions of consumer recommendations behind their rating structure, ‘Web of Trust’ are literally using a groundswell of consumer opinions to power their online regulatory system.
Web of Trust announced a $1m investment this week to increase product development and drive growth. Lets hope it does just that!
